What is it?
Internal wall insulation is made of plasterboard backed with foamed plastic. It can come in two forms – rigid insulation boards or stud wall insulation.
How does it work?
Plasterboard containing high-density foam is fitted to the inside walls of a house to minimise heat loss.
Keeping warm air in reduces energy costs. Internal wall insulation can also reduce moisture on cold walls and reduce condensation levels. This method of wall insulation is typically used on houses with solid walls and can be more aesthetically pleasing than external wall insulation.
According to the National Insulation Association, heat loss in homes with solid walls can be up to 45% – internal wall insulation can reduce this loss significantly.
